About
Fundamentally I’ll always be both an artist and a rationalist — a pairing that generates some interesting creative tension.
On Twitter I’m “a skeptically sincere essayist & aspiring storyteller, social critic and digital media advocate.”
On LinkedIn I’m “an independent researcher, concept developer, and writer based in London Ontario Canada, specializing in the application of meta-factors in business, civics, education, and design.”

Research & Concept Development:
Everything I do is complex, but if I had to say it succinctly, I’d say “I study creativity.”
That means not just learning from other creative people and reading the relevant literature, but primarily doing creative things — all kinds of creative things, the most creative being to create an education (starting with developing the concept of creating an education) — and studying the process along the way.
Which has led to some cool insights — and a handful of radical ones too. Some of them are articulated (and continue to evolve) here as essays and blog posts. Most get re-invested back into other creative projects.
Over and above blogging, staying up to speed on developments in social media, and writing essays about everything from Twitter to war to the philosophy of science and more…
Projects:
• Thinking in the 21st Century [book & talks]: synthesizing concepts and disciplines — from design thinking to complexity theory — that will be shaping our future (oriented heavily towards pragmatism and process philosophy).
• Open Conceptual [business]: enterprise for leveraging the concept of meta factors in art, science, commerce, civics, and education.
• PodCamp London [event]: member of the 2010 unconference’s organizing team.
• Accidental EduPunk [misc]: some background explaining how, what, and why I learn… because it all starts with education.
• ÜberFaktor! [book & ?¡]: started with a talk about new kinds of creativity on the web, now evolving into a recursive exercise on creativity creating itself… or something like that.
• LDNbeta [social entrepreneurship]: a rapid-prototyped attempt to stir digital innovation and engagement in London Ontario’s civic and social spheres.
• The Philosopher [play]: when I have time I work away on a story adapted from Plato’s dialogues.
• I also play guitar and bass, almost daily, for fun.
