Few people can resist talking about end-of-year favourites — bloggers especially.
Since a lot of us are already going to be posting our picks we might as well try to aggregate them into one stream for everyone to admire together. It’s the holiday season, after all.
It’ll be pretty easy — as long as people remember to use the same tag: “LdnFavs09,” or if you’re tweeting it use the hashtag “#LdnFavs09.”
I don’t think you need to worry too much about it technically being a “tag.” Do it if possible, but as long as “LdnFavs09″ is part of the post somewhere I think Google blog search should hopefully pick it up (or worse-comes-to-worst we’ll catch it some other way, inevitably).
Some people have head starts already.
Dan Brown has done a few and got some discussion going at LFPress.com, Ruby has a very good selection of music at LondonFuse (those are the only ones I’ve seen so far).
Other than including the tag, there are no rules.
Be creative!
Pick best of the past year, best of the past decade, mix it up, whatever you want.
If you need ideas check out some of the suggested categories at Dan Brown’s blog.
(My favourite list of the year so far (not from London) is the Best Protest Signs of 2009 at Buzzfeed (via GOOD). Looks like it was a strong year for Conan O’Brien-inspired ironic infiltrators.)
If you’re looking for inspiration I just stumbled on this impressive meta-list of book lists for 2009, and if you’re even more adventurous, take a dip in the meta-list of music lists (warning: maybe wait until the homework is out of the way first).
If you want to follow along the FriendFeed stream will have the most info, here’s the specified Google Blogs search, there’ll be an RSS feed to subscribe if you want, and here’s the Twitter stream.
I’m sure there will be more creative things we can do with it too. We can play with it. If you come up with anything, go ahead and make it or shout-it-out using the tag.
