I'm damn proud of London's gaming connection. Like Derek, I couldn't believe it when I started to hear that games I'd played were developed down the street.

And since gaming is quickly becoming (if it's not already) the dominant form of entertainment, that puts London in a great position. I agree about focusing on stuff like this, rather than transportation. Transportation is boring.

When I first found out about Digital Extremes, I literally could not believe that something like Unreal Tournament was developed in London! I was living only 25 minutes away from where one of the biggest games ever was made!

You and I both know one of the developers at Antic Games and I've played Junk Battles. It's pretty fun and addicting! I'm looking forward to what else Antic develops.

All in all, London absolutely has a chance to do more of this type of innovation. Waterloo is doing it with damn near free space in office buildings located to some of the world's biggest companies (RIM, Open Text, Google, Microsoft) and there's no reason we can't. Manufacturing got us into this hole, so it's unlikely to be the only way to get us out of it.

Other areas we could be exploring more include the alternative fuel resources that UWO is investing in, along with innovations in education delivery and medical supplies. We're doing things in those areas now, but it's nothing London's really known for (except for companies like Trudell and Trojan UV).
