Moving to WordPress

by Brian on 09-20-2008

Or rather, I already have, here at brianfrank.ca.

I had no complaints about Blogger, but so far I’m very happy with WordPress. I wasn’t crazy about the last version I tried, but what they say about the value of an enthusiastic open source community is true. The improvements I’ve seen have surpassed my expectations and needs.

I’m especially excited about the way it’s developing into a more robust conent management platform. This is the main reason I switched, as I want to incorporate more static-type pages on one hand, while making the main page more variegated and versatile.

I also changed URL’s, getting the word ‘blog’ out of it, because I want to evolve this away from the blog mindset and towards a more well-rounded online presence.

Having said that, over the past 13 months I’ve come to really enjoy this — which is why I want to take this to new levels, learn more about what’s “under the hood” (another reason I switched to WordPress), and cultivate a distinctive style and format… eventually.

Any feedback or advice, as always, is more than welcome.
